VESTA (KMHL) – A Franklin man was injured when the motorcycle he was riding when he struck a deer. The Minnesota State Patrol says 61-year-old Paul Dennis Woods received non-life threatening injuries when the 2012 Harley Davidson he was riding hit the deer in Vesta Township around 5:30 yesterday morning. Authorities say after he struck the deer Woods had to lay the bike down. Woods was taken to the Avera-Marshall Regional Medical Center. The State Patrol says Woods was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

ST. PAUL (KMHL) – Do you have enough fuel to get home from a few days away over the Fourth of July? Hopefully, it won't be a problem for you, but the state of Minnesota has been hit with a fuel shortage at an inopportune time. Wednesday afternoon Gov. Tim Walz issued an Executive Order to alleviate the fuel shortage in the state. Some local gas stations across the state have been experiencing shortages because of unanticipated events at refineries in other states – disrupting the normal supply of gasoline. MINNEOTA (KMHL) – There was an exciting few minutes outside of the Minneota Police Station. Around 1 p.m. this afternoon a young woman riding in a vehicle on her way to the hospital to give birth realized she wasn't going to make it. The driver of the vehicle pulled into the parking lot at the Minneota city building and went inside for help. Police Chief Bill Bolt said he another officer and members of the Minneota First Responders helped the young woman give birth right in the parking lot. MONTEVIDEO (LEARFIELD) - The U-S Army Corps (COR) of Engineers is increasing outflows from the Lac Qui Parle Reservoir, upstream from Montevideo. "We need to release water from those reservoirs," said Patrick Loch with the Corps' St. Paul District. "Which is going to impact the downstream users of those rivers." Corps (COR) officials say they're also working with the National Weather Service to update river water-level forecasts at Montevideo and downstream on the Minnesota River. OLIVIA (KMHL) – A judge ruled an Olivia boy, who is accused of sex crimes, is incompetent to stand trial in his own defense. Authorities say the boy sexually molested three girls at his mother’s daycare from August 2017 through last January. He is facing three counts of criminal sexual conduct. Judge Dwayne Knutson ruled the boy was at least temporarily incompetent to defend himself. The boys’ mother, 45-year-old Peggy Uhlenkamp is also charged with failing to report the abuse and child neglect. Knutson ruled previously the case against her case could proceed.

"We are expecting nearly 49 million people to hit the roads and air," said Meredith Terpstra of Triple-A Minnesota.
