Community Blood Bank is launching an urgent appeal for blood donations to ensure local patients receive the lifesaving care they need. While seasonal activities and travel plans increase during the warmer months, blood donations typically decline, creating potential shortages for area hospitals.   R.T.R. High School will host a community blood drive on Tuesday, April 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Donors can schedule a donation appointment by logging onto cbblifeblood.org, selecting “events”, and choosing April 1st or call Community Blood Bank at 605-331-3222. The University of Minnesota Extension will be offering the Minnesota Irrigator Program at the Sherburne History Center in Becker, MN April 2, 9 and 16. Over the past few years, efficient agricultural irrigation has become a hot topic in Minnesota. In regions with sandy soil and limited precipitation, irrigation is a key component of production agriculture. Matching irrigation with crop water use has become more important to maintain profit and maximize groundwater resources. An understanding of the plant-water-soil relationship, proper irrigation system maintenance, and use of irrigation scheduling are just some of the tools irrigators use for cost-effective crop production. These online sessions will be very informal, open to the public and free of charge. The Pipestone County Museum will be holding a donation rummage on Tuesday, April 8th and Wednesday, April 9th, 2025. Community members may drop off good, usable rummage items at the Pipestone National Guard Armory (421 2nd Ave. SW) on Tuesday, the 8th from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. No electronics, cribs, or car seats will be accepted.   The doors for the sale open at 5:00 p.m. and continue until 7:00 p.m. that evening.
