Joyce Miller was born on December 2, 1942 in Slayton, Minnesota to Robert and Anna Johnson Courtney.  She grew up on the family farm north of Lake Wilson, MN.  Joyce graduated from Lake Wilson High School in 1960. She then attended Nettleton College in Sioux Falls, SD for bookkeeping. Joyce was baptized on June 3, 1961 in Pipestone, MN as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  Joyce worked at the Broaster Café in Slayton for a short time before her marriage to George Miller on September 30, 1972.  Following their marriage they made their home on a farm north of Slayton until 1993 when they moved to a farm northwest of Slayton.  Joyce operated an in home daycare for many years.  Joyce passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the age of 76.  She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.   Joyce was always thinking of others and ways to help. She enjoyed reading her Bible, crossword puzzles, games, attended County Fairs especially the Spencer Fair, walking, listening to Kingdom music as well as 50’s and polka music, playing the accordion and keeping all things neat and clean.

Survivors include her husband, George Miller of Slayton, MN, two daughters and their spouses, Michelle and John Folken of Marshall, MN, and Melissa and Mackenzie Barclay of St. Peter, MN, one granddaughter, Audrey Barclay, four siblings, Ralph and Carol Courtney of Tyler, MN, Larry Courtney of Luverne, MN, Howard and Lenora Courtney of Ham Lake, MN, and Russell Courtney of Sioux City, IA.  She is preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Roger Courtney.

Funeral services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 2865 269th Ave. in Marshall, MN on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 3:00 p.m.  A private family interment will be held at a later time.  Following services a luncheon will be held at the Adult Community Center at 107 South 4th St in Marshall, MN.  Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to time of services.
