CLARKFIELD — Two people were injured after their vehicle collided with a semi on Monday in Yellow Medicine County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. At approximately 9:40 Monday evening, a 2016 Chevy Impala was traveling eastbound on County Road 3 and a 2009 Peterbilt semi was traveling southbound on Highway 59 when the vehicles collided.
The driver of the Chevy, 19-year-old Blake Alexander Regnier of Canby, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the St. Cloud hospital. A passenger in the Chevy, 19-year-old Mason Eric Smith of Ivanhoe, sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to the North Memorial Hospital. The State Patrol reports Regnier and Smith were not wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.
The driver of the semi, 23-year-old Clayton James Lahr of Garfield, was not injured.
Assistance was provided by the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office, Clarkfield Fire Department and Ambulance, and Granite Falls Ambulance.
