(Minneapolis, MN) — Longtime columnist Jim Klobuchar, who wrote for the Star Tribune, is dead at the age of 93. The father of U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar was said to have written over 84-hundred columns by the time he retired in the 1990s. Senator Klobuchar said the man born in Ely died Wednesday. As a veteran, Klobuchar will be buried at Fort Snelling, and a public celebration will be held at a later date. Anyone wishing to honor the late journalist can donate to the University of Minnesota’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
In a statement, Amy Klobuchar said of her father: “Even to the end, as he lived the final chapter of his life with Alzheimer’s, he was still singing songs and telling incredible stories to my sister Meagan and me. He loved our state. He loved journalism. He loved sports and adventure. And we loved him.”
