A Town in Ohio Is Being Plagued . . . with People Leaving Thousands of Dollars in Public Bathrooms?

2024-05-16T12:19:27-05:00May 16th, 2024|Categories: KARZ, KKCK, KMHL|

There's a town in Ohio called Marysville, which is getting some press for the money they put into their public restrooms.  There's nothing special about the amenities . . . the money is LITERAL CASH.  (???) A couple weeks ago, more than $25,000 was found in a public bathroom at the Avalon Theatre, a performing arts venue in Marysville.  Less than a week later, more than $12,000 was found in a public bathroom at a KFC, also in the same town. The police say the cash was hidden in both cases . . . so it wasn't left there accidentally.  In the [...]

The States That Are the “Most Normal” Are . . . Illinois and Florida?

2024-05-16T12:18:43-05:00May 16th, 2024|Categories: KARL, KARZ, KKCK, KMHL|

We're always seeing reports about the U.S. states with the highest THIS and the lowest THAT.  Or the best states for THIS and the worst states for THAT.  But what about the middle-of-the-road? The "Washington Post" set out to determine "the most NORMAL state in the nation" . . . the state that's the most generic American . . . or the state that's most similar to America as a whole. They crunched a bunch of data:  Census variables and demographics . . . including race and religion . . . income . . . education . . . jobs (white-collar, blue-collar, service-sector) [...]

“Portal” Art Installation Shut Down After People Flashed and Mooned Each Other

2024-05-15T13:47:01-05:00May 15th, 2024|Categories: KARL, KARZ, KKCK, KMHL, KNSG|

This is why we can't have nice things in 2024 . . . A new art installation called "The Portal" opened in New York last week, and an identical one opened in Dublin, Ireland.  Each Portal shows a live feed of the other city.  The idea is to let people connect with each other from an ocean away. But less than a week in, they had to be temporarily shut down . . . after too many people were FLASHING and MOONING each other.  Folks have also been giving each other the finger . . . grinding on the Portal . [...]

Oops! A College Had to Retract 1,500 Admissions, After Accidentally Sending Acceptance Letters?

2024-05-15T13:45:58-05:00May 15th, 2024|Categories: KARZ, KKCK|

If you're a high school senior, the WORST news is a college rejection letter.  Actually scratch that.  The WORST news is getting accepted, and then having it RETRACTED. Georgia State University mistakenly sent about 1,500 "Welcome!" emails for the upcoming school year.  Technically, it wasn't an official acceptance letter, but the kids who got them definitely got that impression. The school realized the error, and sent out retractions.  The follow-up notices explained the error . . . and told the students they are still being considered. Apparently, the admissions process was "incomplete," and those "Welcome!" emails were just sent out prematurely. [...]

Would YOU Want to Leave an A.I. Copy of Yourself When You Die?!?

2024-05-15T13:45:10-05:00May 15th, 2024|Categories: KARL, KARZ, KKCK, KMHL|

This still seems like "future" stuff, so it's a bit scary how fast it's arriving:  A 61-year-old German man named Michael Bommer has terminal cancer . . . and he is leaving behind an A.I. version of himself. He's the first customer for a service called Eternos that creates your own A.I. double.  He's been training an A.I. to act just like him and carry on after he's passed away. You tell it your thoughts and memories, so it learns to mimic your personality, your voice, and can even generate new ideas similar to what you might think up.  They asked [...]

Eminem Ran an Obituary for Slim Shady

2024-05-15T13:43:17-05:00May 15th, 2024|Categories: KKCK|

Eminem's upcoming album is called "The Death of Slim Shady", and he's going all the way with it. He just ran an OBITUARY for Slim Shady in the "Detroit Free Press".  It features a picture of Eminem in his old-school overalls and hockey mask. It says that Shady led millions of fans down a road that, quote, "glorified a demonstrably nihilistic worldview." It adds, quote, "His complex and tortured existence has come to a close, and the legacy he leaves behind is no closer to resolution than the manner in which this character departed this world. "May he truly find the peace in an afterlife that [...]

Has a Dating App Figured Out How to Ban “Ghosting”?

2024-05-15T13:39:29-05:00May 15th, 2024|Categories: KKCK|

If you've done any online dating, you've had to deal with GHOSTING.  And even though no one enjoys being ignored . . . most people are probably guilty of it themselves to some degree.  (If not in dating, then in texting.) The dating app Hinge is trying to BAN ghosting, and it's actually a pretty interesting concept. They're testing a feature called "Your Turn Limits," which is meant to boost a focus on "quality over quantity." Here's how it works:  If a person has EIGHT or more people waiting for a response . . . then you can't start a new connection [...]

Cajun Seasoning Bandit Leaves a Trail Right To Himself

2024-05-15T13:38:45-05:00May 15th, 2024|Categories: KARL, KARZ, KKCK, KMHL|

This seems like a modern day Hardy Boys case. The perpetrator, a 21-year old man from Pennsylvania named Quasir Stephens, was arrested on burglary charges earlier this month after he left a culinary calling card for the police to decipher. Picture the scene: the police arriving to the crime scene, the apartment destroyed, but curiously the kitchen floor blanketed in Cajun seasoning. A spicy clue, with footprints weaving and winding through the seasoning. The police to wondering why? Further investigation's conducted. The victim receiving a suspicious call, an admission of guilt from Quasir. Leading the police to decide, it's time for [...]

The Great Sandwich Debate Just Went To Court

2024-05-15T11:23:04-05:00May 15th, 2024|Categories: KKCK|

We might have the answer to a question you never asked:  Are tacos SANDWICHES?  A judge in Indiana just ruled on it this week.   A man named Martin Quintana has been trying to open a taco place in a strip mall in Fort Wayne.  But he ran into some red tape thanks to a contract that limits the type of restaurants allowed.   It says you can only open a place that sells "made-to-order or subway style sandwiches."  So he sued, claiming tacos and burritos ARE sandwiches.  (The contract was designed to prevent big fast-food chains from moving in.)   His [...]
