MARSHALL (KMHL) – Lyon County’s recycling program is back in front of Lyon County Commissioners this morning. The issue is back on the agenda at their regularly scheduled commissioners’ meeting.

Lyon County’s contract with Southwest Sanitation for curbside pickup of recyclables comes to an end in September and earlier this month commissioners rejected bids from both Southwest and West Central Sanitation – because they came back too high.

Commissioners also voted to place more roll-off containers at specific sites around the county for residents to drop off their recyclables.

Commissioners are planning to discuss recycling selling recycling sheds in Amiret, Florence, Garvin, Ghent, Grenn Valley, Lynd and Taunton – as they prepare to shift over to the roll-off containers.

But since deciding to reject the bids for curbside pickup there has been a lot of feedback from the public and even city officials from both Marshall and Tracy have been supportive of keeping the service.
