Lake Benton Legion Memorial Day Program
Lake Benton Legion will be holding their Memorial Day program at 9:30 a.m. in the Lake Benton Opera House. This particular Memorial Day is quite special in Lake Benton this year as the remains of Glenn Cyriacks will be returned to the Krause Family. Cyriacks was stationed on the USS Oklahoma when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. His remains are only the second in the state to be returned. The Cottonwood American Legion will be conducting a Memorial Day program Monday, May 29 at 9:30 AM at the Cottonwood Community Center. Address by Retired Lt. Colonel Joe Errington and music by Ellen Lenz. Gun salute to follow at Veteran’s Park.

Lucan Memorial Day Observance
The Lucan Memorial Day Observance will be Monday (Memorial Day), May 29, 2023 at the Veterans Memorial at the City Park (South of the Community Center) starting at 6:30 p.m. with Patriotic Music and the Program will begin at 7 p.m. The speaker will be Josh Goche, CSM. Everyone is welcome to come and honor those who have served. The program will be followed by Roll Call of Deceased Veterans, gun salute, taps and refreshments. All activities will be conducted outside. If desired, bring a lawn chair. In case of inclement weather, the program will be help inside the Community Center.

Lucan Lions Club 44th Annual Beef Bar-Be-Que
The Lucan Lions Club will kick off Lucan's Pretzel Days on Friday evening, June 9, 2023! They will be having their 44th Annual Beef Bar-be-que at the Lucan Community Center. Serving Bar-be-que Beef from South 40 Meat Market, potato salad, baked beans, chips, pickles, bread, coffee and juice will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Lucan Lions beer wagon will be around with adult refreshments. After, check out youth ball games at the park and other Pretzel Days events! These events kick-off Lucan’s Pretzel Days --– Come check it out!!

Applebee’s Flapjack Fundraiser
Applebee's will be having a Flapjack Fundraiser on Saturday, June 10th from 8:30 to 10:30AM at Applebee's in Marshall 1510 E College Dr. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, coffee, juice, and milk will be served. Meals are available for take-out as well. Adult tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Children 12 and under are $7 in advance and $8 at the door. Echo Lions Club First Annual Rib Fest
On Saturday June 10th, the Echo Lions Club will be hosting the first Annual Ribfest. To enter as a contestant it is a 50$ entry fee with a 100% payout there will also be cash prizes and trophies. Meals will be available for purchase going for 15$ per meal (the meals include ribs, beans, and water). This is an Echo Alliance Church Fundraiser. The Panther Booster Club is having their 19th annual Golf Open Friday, June 16th at Tracy Golf Club. This event will feature a nine-hole best ball tournament with 3 and 4 person teams. The tournament will start at 5:00pm and there will be a meal served at 7:00pm. To play costs $40 a person including a meal or for only the meal is $15 a person. The Shetek Lutheran Ministries is having their 37th annual Quilt Auction June 24th!Over 200 handmade quilts and specialty items will be live auctioned. We will also have many other items and theme baskets on a silent auction. You can preview the items from 5:30-8:00 p.m. Friday or 8:00-10:00 a.m. Saturday. The Redwood-Cottonwood Rivers Control Area (RCRCA) is sponsoring a canoe trip on the Redwood River on the 27 and 29 of June. Registration is due by June 21st. The group is set to meet at 9:30AM and take on the river at 10:00 with openings available on both the 27 and 29th of June. We’ll meet at Perk’s Park on the shores of Lake Redwood in Redwood Falls and take a shuttle bus to County Road 6, where the Redwood River crosses CR 6 and canoe back to our vehicles at Lake Redwood.
