MARSHALL (KMHL) – Three people went to the hospital for observations after a chemical reaction occurred today at the Archer Daniels Midland plant in Marshall.

Marshall Fire Chief Quentin Brunsvold tells Marshall Radio that a cleaner reacted with a chemical in a drain and created a gas. The incident occurred around 12:30 Thursday afternoon.

Brunsvold said he wasn’t sure if the three people who went to the hospital were employees and didn’t have an update on their conditions.

The fire department and the Southwest Chemical Assessment Team were on scene for a few hours to mitigate the problem.
