Fairfax man pleads guilty to attempted murder

OLIVIA (KMHL) – A Fairfax man pleaded guilty to charges of attempted murder and assault from a shooting in a Fairfax convenience store in January. Michael Klatt, 61, of Olivia, accepted an Alford Plea to charges of 2nd degree attempted murder and 2nd degree assault. Klatt was arrested after entering the Smart Mart in Fairfax and shooting an employee. According to the criminal complaint, Klatt blamed the employee for encouraging his wife to leave him.

SLEEPY EYE (KMHL) – The Minnesota State Patrol says two people were killed and five others injured in a broadside accident that occurred near Sleepy Eye Sunday evening. The patrol says Terry Besemer, 51, of New Ulm was the driver of a 2005 Ford 500 that authorities say failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Brown County road 10 and U.S. Highway 14 and was involved in a crash with a 2003 Ford Windstar.
