ST. PAUL (LEARFIELD)  —  The Minnesota Health Department is confirming the state’s first pediatric flu-related death of the season.

The weekly update shows there were six deaths from influenza complications last week, bringing the total to 31 since late September.

There were 187 hospitalizations and 133 flu outbreaks in schools the week ending January 18th.

The flu is widespread throughout Minnesota and state health officials say it’s not too late to get a vaccination.
