Big news for fans of the Man in Black:  Johnny Cash has a NEW ALBUM coming this summer, more than 20 years after his death.  It’s called “Songwriter”, and it will be out June 28th.

It’s a collection of 11 original songs he wrote and recorded demos for in 1993.  He passed away a decade later in 2003.

Only two of them have ever been released in any form:  “Drive On” and “Like a Soldier” were both on his “American Recordings” album in 1994.

The other nine songs are brand new . . . or, “brand new” to US anyway.  He wrote them over 30 years ago.

His son John Carter Cash found the demos and rounded up a bunch of musicians to help flesh them out.

They just released the first track from it, called Well Alright.  (NPR / Variety)
