UNDATED (LEARFIELD) – U-S Senator–and presidential candidate Amy Klobuchar is highlighting her farm policy priorities on the campaign trail.

“This comes out of the fact that farm income is down 50 percent since 2013, and you have a lot of farms going under,” said Klobuchar. “Especially small farms.”

Klobuchar is calling for expanded bankruptcy protection and improving access to capital for farm loans.

“We have to make it easier for farmers to keep farming when they are in bankruptcy,” said Klobuchar. “We also have to make capital more available to them, that’s something I actually led in the last farm bill.”

Klobuchar is also calling on President Trump to go back to the negotiating table and rework trade tariffs that are hurting farmers in Minnesota and around the country.
