St. Paul, MN — Minnesota’s unemployment rate edged up to 3.2 percent in July, with the state losing 1,100 jobs during the month. Despite the increase, the state’s unemployment rate remains below the national average of 4.3 percent.

Among Minnesota’s 11 job sectors, Education & Health Services saw the most growth, adding 4,300 jobs. However, six sectors experienced declines, with Trade, Transportation & Utilities losing 2,400 jobs, Leisure & Hospitality down 2,000 jobs, and Financial Activities shedding 1,100 jobs.

Despite the monthly losses, Minnesota has added over 29,200 payroll jobs over the past year. The state’s labor force participation rate remains strong at 67.8 percent, one of the highest in the nation.
