LYON COUNTY, Minn. — Lyon County 4-H members earned more than 100 Grand Champion honors across livestock, general projects, presentations and club exhibits during this year’s 4-H competition at the Lyon County Fair.

Annabel Coudron of the Stanley Busy Beavers was one of the most decorated exhibitors, earning six Grand Champion awards. She was recognized for a poultry breeding pen consisting of one male and two females, a hobby poultry entry, a livestock demonstration, sheep showmanship, and a potato project. She also earned a Grand Champion honor for her poultry work.

Kyra Wichmann of the Coon Creek Cheerful Workers earned four Grand Champion awards. Her honors included swine showmanship, a New Zealand senior doe in the large-breed rabbit division, a market rabbit and rabbit showmanship.

Rose Lanoue of the Lake Marshall Eagles earned three Grand Champion awards. She was recognized in beef for a prospect calf, as well as in meat goat showmanship and the senior meat breeding doe kid division.

Axel Evans of SW MN Lama also earned three Grand Champion honors, taking top honors in llama-alpaca showmanship, llama-alpaca fiber and the obstacle course/public relations division for grades 6-8.

Other exhibitors earning multiple Grand Champion honors included Brock Bakker of the Coon Creek Cheerful Workers, with honors in rabbit showmanship, science inquiry and fine arts; Shanna Boerboom of the Stanley Busy Beavers, with championships in fishing sports and photography; William Buyck of the Amiret Busy Bees, with honors in food preservation and swine showmanship; Zach Chandler of the Coon Creek Cheerful Workers, with championships in fine arts and corn; and Andrew Coudron of the Stanley Busy Beavers, who earned Grand Champion honors in mechanical science and poultry showmanship.


General Projects

Bryer Bangasser of the Amiret Busy Bees was Grand Champion in woodworking for grades 3-5. Charity Beisler of the Lake Marshall Eagles earned the top honor in food preservation, while Deborah Beisler of the 4 Paw Runners was Grand Champion in flower gardening. Finley Boerboom of the Amiret Busy Bees won in science inquiry for grades 6 and up.

Zach Chandler earned the fine arts and corn championships, while Andrew Coudron was recognized in mechanical science. Austin Coudron of the Stanley Busy Beavers was Grand Champion in technology.

Grayson Pfarr of the Coon Creek Cheerful Workers earned Grand Champion honors in sewn non-garment clothing and textiles and wildlife biology and management. Reagan Pfarr was recognized in photography and photo manipulation.

Imogen Moriarty of the Minneota Ribbon Wranglers earned championships in self-determined projects and creative writing. Winston Strand of the same club was Grand Champion in metalwork.

Jase Johns of the Amiret Busy Bees earned Grand Champion honors in flower gardening and photography, while Skylar Johnson was recognized in home environment. Lauren Torkelson earned a championship in purchased clothing.

Alissa Moen of the Stanley Busy Beavers was Grand Champion in indoor gardening and llama-alpaca fiber. Violet Vlaminck of the Minneota Ribbon Wranglers earned championships in cats and health and wellness.

Other general project champions included Abigail Goblish of the Swan Lake Skippers in crafts, John Goblish in fishing sports, Sophia Goblish in needle arts, Josie Miller of the Lake Marshall Eagles in child and family development, Edward Rabaey of the Lake Marshall Eagles in food revue, entomology and performance-based performing arts, Gregory Rabaey in performance-based performing arts, and Addison Walker, an independent Lyon County 4-H member, in performance-based performing arts.


Livestock

In dairy, Evelyn Buyck of the Amiret Busy Bees was Grand Champion in showmanship for grades 6-8. Titan Fier of the Minneota Ribbon Wranglers earned the Grand Champion award in dairy showmanship for grades 3-5, while Adeline Louwagie of the Swan Lake Skippers was the Grand Champion dairy showmanship exhibitor for grades 9 and up.

Beef champions included Olivia DeVos of the Minneota Ribbon Wranglers in showmanship for grades 6-8; Calie Johns of the Amiret Busy Bees in showmanship for grades 9 and up and commercial market steer; Rose Lanoue in the prospect calf division; Avery Pease of the Coon Creek Cheerful Workers in pure-breed dairy steer; Zach Roberts of the Minneota Ribbon Wranglers in beef heifer calf and registered cow-and-calf pair; and Yasha Sleiter of the Stanley Busy Beavers in market heifer and bull calf.

Swine champions included William Buyck in grades 3-5 showmanship, Shelby Knott of the Amiret Busy Bees in grades 6-8 showmanship and Kyra Wichmann in grades 9 and up showmanship.
Rabbit Grand Champions included Brock Bakker in grades 3-5 showmanship, Emmett Louwagie of the Stanley Busy Beavers in the Mini Lop junior doe division, Shelby Remiger of the Swan Lake Skippers in grades 6-8 showmanship, Nevaeh Schreiber of the Minneota Ribbon Wranglers in grades 6-8 showmanship, and Kyra Wichmann in several senior and market rabbit categories, as well as senior showmanship.

Poultry champions included Andrew Coudron in grades 3-5 showmanship; Annabel Coudron in a breeding pen, hobby poultry and other poultry categories; Ella Moorse of the Minneota Ribbon Wranglers in the brown-egg production pen; Gregory Rabaey in the turkey market pen division; Stetson Tiede of the Coon Creek Cheerful Workers in a chicken market pen; and Harmon and Nolan Van Keulen of the Minneota Ribbon Wranglers in poultry showmanship and egg production categories.

Meat goat champions included Joy Lanoue of the Lake Marshall Eagles in grades 3-5 showmanship, while Rose Lanoue was recognized in grades 6-8 showmanship and senior meat breeding doe kid. Kiannalee Olson of the Swan Lake Skippers was Grand Champion in the market goat wether division.
The llama-alpaca division featured a large number of Grand Champions. Kezlynn Braithwaite earned championships in obstacle course/public relations and poster competition for grades 3-5, while Eleanor Frerich was recognized for llama-alpaca fiber. Camden Lugar was Grand Champion in grades 3-5 showmanship.

In the older divisions, Leighton Porter earned Grand Champion honors in showmanship and llama-alpaca fiber, while Evea Powers and Natalie Shuckhart were recognized in poster competition. Natalie Shuckhart also earned a championship in showmanship. Annsleigh Wisdom was Grand Champion in poster competition, while Maelynn Wisdom was recognized in obstacle course/public relations. Brylee Peterson was Grand Champion in poster competition.


Other Projects

Kezlynn Braithwaite was recognized for llama-alpaca work, while Linea Koch of the 4 Paw Runners earned a championship for an egg display featuring white and colored eggs.

Cora Kobylinski of the Lake Marshall Eagles was Grand Champion in cake decorating for grades 6 and up. Edward Rabaey earned a championship in food revue, and Avery Vlaminck of the Lake Marshall Eagles was recognized in cake decorating for grades 3-5.

Sophia Goblish earned a championship in needle arts, while Madison Wulf of the Amiret Busy Bees was recognized in needle arts and metalwork. Madison Wulf also earned a Grand Champion award in beef showmanship for grades 3-5.
Other specialized champions included Ryker Hoflock of the Stanley Busy Beavers in safety, Becca Roberts of the Minneota Ribbon Wranglers in indoor gardening, SkyLee Sawyer of the 4 Paw Runners in potatoes, and Grayson Pfarr in wildlife biology and management.


Club Exhibits

The Amiret Busy Bees earned four Grand Champion awards in the club exhibit categories. The club was recognized for its scrapbook, community pride activity, booth and flower box.

The Swan Lake Skippers earned Grand Champion for a club activity banner.

At the individual level, Daxton Meulebroeck of the Coon Creek Cheerful Workers was recognized as Grand Champion in industrial technology and woodworking for grades 6 and up and also received the Community Impact Award.
