Valerie Esping, age 70, of Marshall, Minnesota, died peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the Prairie Home Hospice – Lockwood House in Marshall. Memorial Services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall, Minnesota. A reception for attendees will follow at the AmericInn Hotel in Marshall. Visitation will be held one hour prior to her celebration, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, also at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Arrangements are with the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall.
Valerie Ann Tesch was born on June 28, 1956, in Tracy, Minnesota. She grew up in Currie, Minnesota, where she was baptized as an infant, received first communion, and was confirmed in her youth in the Catholic church. Valerie attended school in Tracy, graduating with the high school class of 1974. Valerie was united in marriage to Aaron Esping on January 18, 1982, in Marshall. The couple made their home in Marshall where Val worked at the Coca-Cola bottling plant until its closure. She then cleaned local offices with her mother until retirement. She was able to spend many years at home with her husband where she could often be found doing cross-word puzzles, word-finds, or reading. Valerie was also meticulous in caring for her house and tending to the yardwork. Valerie Esping under the care of hospice on September 5, 2026, in Marshall, Minnesota. She reached the age of 70 years, 2 months, and 8 days. Blessed to be her memory.
She is survived by her husband, Aaron Esping of Marshall; children, Eric Esping of Redding, CA, Heather Esping (and Aaron Groen) of Huron, SD; 3 grandchildren, Axel, Adalynn, Aurora; brother, Vance (and Robin) Tesch of Cambridge; brother-in-law, Randy Rolfes of Sioux Falls, SD; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Val was preceded in death by her mother, Delphine Tesch, and a sister, Mary Rolfes.
