Fire in Madison leaves one man dead, woman sent to hospital

MADISON (KMHL) – A fire at a home on 5^th Avenue in Madison left one man dead and sent a woman to the hospital.

According to a press release from the Lac Qui Parle Sheriff’s Office, the fire was reported around 10:45 Wednesday morning.

Authorities say the man was found dead at the scene of the fire, the woman was transported by ambulance to the Madison hospital. Sheriff’s officials say the fire remains under investigation with the state fire marshal’s office.

Authorities have not identified the victims pending notification of the family.
