HAZEL RUN – A Cottonwood man is dead after his vehicle collided with a semi pulling a loaded gravel trailer on Thursday, according to the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office. On Thursday at approximately 4:06 p.m., a 1997 Ford F150 being driven by 60-year-old Robert Proctor of Cottonwood failed to yield at the intersection of County Road 8 and 250th Avenue and collided with a 2010 Peterbilt semi being driven by 57-year-old Mark Oftedahl of Hanley Falls. The semi was pulling a loaded gravel trailer.
Both vehicles ended up in the ditch southwest of the intersection. Proctor was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. Oftedahl sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Avera Granite Falls Hospital.
