UPDATE: Two Tracy People Dead and Two Walnut Grove People Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision

TRACY – Two people are dead and two are injured after a crash occurred Wednesday evening on Highway 14 between Tracy and Walnut Grove, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. At approximately 8:29 Wednesday evening, a 2002 Toyota Sienna was traveling southbound on Balsa Avenue and a 2005 Toyota Sequoia was traveling eastbound on highway 14 when they collided in the intersection.   The driver of the Sienna, 55-year-old Maiyang Moua of Tracy, and her passenger, 67-year-old Saibert Moua of Tracy, both died from injuries sustained in the accident.   The driver of the Sequoia, 48-year-old Victor Lee of Walnut Grove, [...]

Body Found in Montevideo Monday Morning Identified by Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office

MONTEVIDEO – The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man whose body was found with a stab wound in Montevideo Monday morning. 69-year-old Mitchell Bruce Twite was identified as the deceased man, however his cause of death has not yet been determined. According to Montevideo Police, a postal worker found Twite’s body in a grassy area next to the post office parking lot in the 300 block of 1st Street. The Montevideo Police Department says there is no known threat to the public as the active investigation continues. The investigation is being assisted by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

Missing Person Alert Issued for Elderly Sanborn Woman

REDWOOD FALLS – The Redwood Falls County Sheriff’s Office is searching for 81-year-old Jeanine Jackson from Sanborn. Jeanine suffers from memory issues and potentially became disoriented during a morning walk. She was last seen at approximately 9:30 Wednesday morning and was accompanied by her dog.   Sanborn residents are urged to check their properties and surveillance systems including doorbell cameras for any possible tips to Jeanine’s whereabouts.  Anyone with information on the location of Jeanine Jackson is asked to contact the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office. 

Identity of New Ulm Man that Died in Morton Crash Released

MORTON – The identity of a New Ulm man that died following a one-vehicle rollover accident in Morton was released by the Minnesota State Patrol.   36-year-old Jacob Samuel Hawn of New Ulm died from injuries sustained in the accident when his 2013 Volkswagen Jetta ran off the road on Highway 19 in Morton and rolled.  Assistance was provided by the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, Morton Fire Department, and CentraCare Ambulance.  

Three Tracy People Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision Wednesday Evening

TRACY – Two Tracy Men and a Tracy woman were injured in a two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 14 Wednesday evening, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. TRACY – A fatal crash occurred Wednesday evening on Highway 14 between Tracy and Walnut Grove, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. At approximately 8:29 Wednesday evening, a 2002 Toyota Sienna was traveling south on Balsa Avenue and a 2005 Toyota Sequoia was traveling eastbound on highway 14 when they collided in the intersection.   The identity of all four occupants will be released later today. The report notes the fatal crash involved an unbelted occupant.   Assistance was provided by the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office, Walnut Grove Fire and Ambulance, and Tracy Ambulance.  

Sleepy Eye Man Dead and Golden Valley Man in Critical Condition After Collision in Watonwan County

DARFUR – One man is dead, and another is in critical condition following a two-semi collision in Watonwan County on Wednesday, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. At approximately 8:23 Wednesday morning, a 1995 Freightliner semi was traveling eastbound on Highway 30 and a 1998 Kenworth semi was traveling southbound on County Road 5 when the trucks collided in the intersection.   The driver of the Freightliner, 31-year-old Dylan Robert Maas of Sleepy Eye, died at the scene. Man Wanted On Second Degree Murder Charges Arrested on SMSU Campus

MARSHALL -- A man wanted in Ramsey County on a second-degree murder charge is in jail after being arrested on the Southwest Minnesota State University campus. 20-year-old Tyrese Alonzo Johnson was taken into custody on the SMSU campus by agents from the Brown-Lyon-Redwood-Renville Drug Task Force and the Marshall Police Department.   The criminal complaint alleges Johnson fired a gun at an occupied vehicle in a St. Paul parking lot in April. Absentee Balloting Starts Friday for Sales Tax Extension in Marshall

MARSHALL -- The City of Marshall announced in a press release that absentee voting begins on Friday, September 22nd. There will be one question that is a "Yes" or "No" to extend the existing sales tax to fund the construction of a proposed aquatic center. Bird Island House Deemed Total Loss After Fire Reignites Early Tuesday

BIRD ISLAND -- The Renville County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a residential fire in the 900 block of 4th Street South on Monday at approximately 6:40 PM in Bird Island. Emergency crews located the fire and found the garage was fully engulfed in flames.  Emergency crews were able to contain the fire in the garage.  However, firefighters were called out to the residence again early Tuesday morning around 4:00 am because the fire had reignited.  The residence had significant damage and was deemed a total loss.   Preliminary investigation revealed that the fire started in the garage and spread throughout [...]
