Sometimes we hype a movie in our head so much that it couldn't possibly live to the expectation... and sometimes the movie in question was so bad to begin with it wouldn't have made a difference. We're 36 days into 2025, and if you're not impressed so far . . . don't worry, these are just the crappy months anyway.   A new poll asked people what their LEAST favorite month is, and the top two responses were:  January (26%) . . . and February (11%).  August (10%) is third, probably because that's when summer ends and school is starting up again.   20% of people said they didn't have a least favorite month.   People were also asked for their FAVORITE month.  The ones with the most votes were October (14%) and December (11%) . . The Super Bowl seems to be the best time to make STUPID bets on STUPID things.  Here are some of the bizarre "prop bets" you can make this year . . . along with the probability that they'll actually happen.   1.  Travis Kelce proposes to Taylor Swift after the game:  16.7% 2.  A coach or player will cry during the national anthem:  81.1%  (There's always at least one.) 3.  A quarterback catches a pass:  5.9%  (This one should be higher this year.  They don't call it the Philly Special for nothing.) 4.  The color of the Gatorade poured on the winning coach:  [...]

Some parents think that we coddle kids too much, and they're becoming too soft.  And in the Netherlands, they're trying to correct this by making playgrounds LESS SAFE.  Sort of.   They're NOT talking about leaving rusted-out slides . . . putting a pit of spikes below the monkey bars . . . or adding more parking for windowless vans.  (???)   A new policy proposal in the Netherlands would increase kids' access to open outdoor play areas to "climb, play with water and fire, sword-fight with sticks, build with hammers, rope, or knives, and wrestle and fall."   It's not [...]
