Amazon Delivered a Package to a Burning Home . . . and Didn’t Call 911?

Amazon has a service for Prime members called "In-Garage Delivery," where they'll open your garage door, and put your package inside, for $1.99.  And they'll do it even if your house is BURNING DOWN. A family in Massachusetts was away from home over Memorial Day weekend, when they got a call that their house was on fire.  By the time they got back, a big chunk of the house was in ruins. They were having some work done on the house, and the fire was started by combustible materials that the workers left in a trash can by the garage.  There's [...]

Bragging About How Busy You Are Makes People Think You’re an Idiot

2024-05-29T13:40:39-05:00May 29th, 2024|Categories: KARL, KARZ, KKCK, KMHL|

Almost EVERYONE wishes they had more time in the day . . . and yet, we all know people who are constantly complaining about how busy THEY are.  So, you may be able to relate to this . . . Researchers from the University of Georgia have found that people who frequently complain about their stressful work lives are seen as "less competent" and "less likable" by those around them. Those are NOT the workers who are overwhelmed, and are proactive about addressing it . . . that's a good thing.  These are the people who "stress brag," like they're wearing [...]

“Basic Things” That Took People Way Too Long to Figure Out

2024-05-29T13:39:53-05:00May 29th, 2024|Categories: KARL, KARZ, KKCK, KMHL|

You probably know the meme, "I was today years old when I learned [blank]."  For stuff you SHOULD'VE already known. People on social media are talking about the things they say they learned "embarrassingly late" . . . and here are some of the best revelations: 1.  "I've never heard someone say 'Yosemite' aloud.  I've been reading it as 'Yo-sem-ight.'"   2.  "I once accidentally shouted 'I love necrophilia!' during a class in 10th grade.  I'd just read a book about a young teenage NECROMANCER, and I got the words mixed up."   3.  "That pumpkin spice does not actually taste [...]

A Third of Americans Think Doing the Dishes Counts as Exercise

2024-05-29T13:39:07-05:00May 29th, 2024|Categories: KARL, KARZ, KKCK, KMHL|

I know a lot of little things add up.  But if this is the standard, we might all be 500 pounds soon . . . A new poll of 2,000 Americans found a third of us think everyday chores like doing the dishes count as "EXERCISE" now. 98% of people say you don't need to go to the gym to get a good workout, and 54% us NEVER see the inside of a gym.  But the average person still claims to "exercise" four times a week. People were asked to name the top everyday tasks that count as exercise.  Here are [...]

A Man Was Arrested for Drunk Driving-Instructing?

2024-05-29T13:38:13-05:00May 29th, 2024|Categories: KARL, KARZ, KKCK, KMHL|

This reminds me of those classic anti-drug PSAs where the kid would say, "I learned it by watching you!" A 39-year-old man in Pennsylvania named Jonathan Storms was arrested for drunk driving-INSTRUCTING. Police responded to a call about a reckless driver, who'd driven a white pickup truck off the street, and then . . . while backing up to get back onto the road . . . ran over the sidewalk and some traffic cones. The cops tracked the driver down, and found that it was a 14-year-old boy.  Jonathan was in the passenger seat . . . drunk.  He said [...]

Spelling Is Hard… Especially For These US States

2024-05-29T11:20:33-05:00May 29th, 2024|Categories: KARL, KARZ, KKCK, KMHL|

The Scripps Spelling Bee finals are tomorrow night.  So Google looked at the top words ordinary Americans struggle with.   They posted a map of the top-trending "How to spell" search in all 50 states.  Here are the most EMBARRASSING ones:  11 states can't spell these words that are all six letters or less . . .   1.  California can't spell the word "pretty." 2.  New Mexico can't spell "quiet." 3.  North Dakota's dirty secret is they can't spell "secret." 4.  Kansas struggles with "chaos." 5.  Oklahoma doesn't know how to spell "animal." 6.  Michigan can't spell "cousin." 7.  Ohio can't spell [...]

The USPS Wants You to Get a Larger, Jumbo Mailbox

2024-05-28T13:34:48-05:00May 28th, 2024|Categories: KARL, KARZ, KKCK, KMHL|

If you always set your bills to "paperless," you may go DAYS without getting a SINGLE PIECE of important mail.  So THIS may seem strange: The USPS is asking people with standalone, curbside mailboxes to replace them with larger, JUMBO ones.  (And no . . . it's not to make it an easier target for bat-wielding vandals.) They want to be able to jam more PACKAGES inside. They say it's to reduce the "need for notices-left and trips to the Post Office to retrieve a package."  But let's be honest, it's also to save postal workers the time and effort of dropping them off [...]

Friday Set a New All-Time Record for Air Travel in the U.S.

2024-05-28T13:33:13-05:00May 28th, 2024|Categories: KARL, KARZ, KKCK, KMHL|

Four years ago, virtually NO ONE was flying.  Things have changed drastically since then. On Friday, the TSA said it screened 2.95 million airline passengers . . . a new record for the most ever on a single day.  They haven't said how many people flew yesterday.  The previous record of 2.91 million was set back in November. The airline industry is anticipating a record summer travel season, with an estimated 271 million passengers . . . up 6.3% from last year. In Atlanta, the world's busiest airport had its busiest day ever.  The Atlanta International Airport broke a traffic record on Thursday [...]

A Groom Shot a Wedding Guest in the Hand

2024-05-28T13:32:23-05:00May 28th, 2024|Categories: KARL, KARZ, KKCK, KMHL|

I can't decide if we should consider this a modern American wedding . . . or a throwback to the 1800s.  Maybe it's both. There was a wedding reception in Indiana earlier this month, where a scuffle broke out . . . and it culminated in the groom FIRING A GUN . . . and shooting a guest in the hand. Indiana State Police responded to a 911 call on May 18th about a possible drunken shooting at a wedding reception. The festivities were winding down, and there was an argument between a wedding guest and his wife, who was accusing [...]
