If you’ve got more than two or three kids in school, you might need to sell a kidney this month . . .

A back-to-school shopping survey found it costs parents an average of $586 per child.  (!!!)  That’s actually down slightly from last year when it was $597.

Two-thirds of parents said they already did most of their shopping last month though, to get the best deals.  (Amazon Prime Day was July 16th and 17th.)  Here are a few more quick back-to-school shopping stats . . .

1.  Parents spend the most on clothing and accessories.  Tech is next, so things like new computers and tablets.  School supplies are third.

2.  61% say their kid usually manipulates them into spending more than they wanted to.  But there’s a good chance you’re not just shopping for your kid.  50% of parents admit they usually end up shopping for themselves too.

3.  When we can’t afford it all, our top two tactics are using coupons . . . and opening a new credit card.  77% of parents say their kid’s education is something they’re willing to go into debt for.
