The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications for two grants supporting livestock producers.
The AGRI Livestock Investment Grant provides up to $1.5 million for farmers and ranchers to improve or modernize equipment and infrastructure. Grants range from $400 to $25,000.
The AGRI Protect Grant provides up to $250,000 to help livestock producers purchase equipment that reduces the risk of avian influenza transmission. Grants range from $500 to $10,000.
Both are reimbursement grants and require matching funds. Priority will be given to applicants who have farmed for 10 years or less. The Livestock Investment Grant also prioritizes generational farm transitions, technology improvements and projects addressing extreme weather.
Applications are due by 4 p.m. November 17. More information is available through the Minnesota Department of Agriculture.
