MARSHALL -- North Bruce Street is closed today, Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from Willow Lane to Birch Street starting at 8 a.m., weather permitting. City crews and contractors are completing final street repairs related to a previous watermain break in the area.  The work is expected to be completed by the end of the day. MARSHALL — The Minnesota National Guard will honor approximately 70 Soldiers from Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 151st Field Artillery Regiment with a pre-deployment ceremony today, Wednesday, May 28, at 5:00 p.m. at the Red Baron Arena and Expo Center in Marshall. MARSHALL — Local officials, community members, and project partners gathered Tuesday, May 20, to mark the dedication of the Marshall Solar Plus (MSP) project, a renewable energy facility combining 10 megawatts (MW) of solar generation with 5 MW of battery storage. Located on 78 acres in Lyon County, the facility includes approximately 21,000 photovoltaic panels across 55 acres and an integrated energy-storage system. MARSHALL — Central Specialties Inc. began milling operations on several city streets Wednesday, May 21, 2025, as part of an ongoing mill and overlay project. “No Parking” signs were placed in advance along affected routes, and vehicles must remain off these streets during active construction hours. Milling is expected to be completed by Friday, May 23. Parking will be allowed over Memorial Day weekend (May 24–26). Paving is scheduled to begin Tuesday, May 27, weather permitting. MARSHALL — For the third consecutive year, Tapestry Companies is seeking state tax credits to build a 60-unit affordable housing complex in Marshall. On Tuesday, the Lyon County Board voted to pledge its remaining state housing funds to strengthen the project’s application for financing from the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency.  The proposed development would be located near London Road and offer one- to four-bedroom apartments for families earning up to 50% of the area's median income. MARSHALL — Construction is now underway on the S Minnesota Street/S Hill Street/Charles Avenue Reconstruction Project, led by contractor D&G Excavating, Inc. Work began this week with alley closures, and full street closures in the project area will start Tuesday, May 27, 2025.  During construction, no through-traffic will be allowed, and residents are advised to park on adjacent streets. SLEEPY EYE, MN – A Fairfax man was injured on Wednesday after a rollover crash in Brown County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. At approximately 10:23 Wednesday morning, a 2020 International semi was traveling southbound on Highway 4. Near the intersection with 320th street, the semi lost control and rolled into the ditch.  The driver of the International, 56-year-old Dean Krippner of Fairfax, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Sleepy Eye Medical Center.   Assistance was provided by the Sheriff’s Offices from Brown and Nicollet Counties, Sleepy Eye Police, Fire, and Ambulance.
