UNDATED (KMHL) – The Fourth of July holiday is a big weekend for celebratory gatherings and a big weekend for boating! But be careful if you’re planning both. The Minnesota DNR, the Minnesota State Patrol and local county sheriff’s offices around the state are holding an increased enforcement on the lakes over the 4th of July weekend targeting impaired boaters. Weather service issues flood warning for Redwood River near Marshall

MARSHALL (KMHL) – The Redwood River is expected to reach flood stage again this week. Heavy weekend rains and a wet spring and start to summer have combined to lead to the National Weather Service issuing a flood warning for the Redwood River near Marshall. River forecasters are expecting the Redwood to crest at 14.5 feet on Wednesday – in the minor flood stage. New wage theft law takes effect today

ST. PAUL (LEARFIELD) - A new law takes effect today that backers say is one of the toughest in the country against wage theft by employers. "Wage theft" is when an employer doesn't pay an employee all wages, salary, tips, commissions or other earnings they're entitled to. Officials say tens of thousands of Minnesotans are put in that position every year. The new law makes wage theft a felony beginning August 1st with penalties up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Highway 14 project to be suspended July 3

TRACY (KMHL) – The Minnesota Department of Transportation says it will suspend its Highway 14 construction project between Tracy and Revere on July 3. The move by MnDOT is being done to help make it easier for people to get to Walnut Grove for the Laura Ingalls Wilder festivities. Work near the Tracy Golf Course is complete and pedestrian improvements in Walnut Grove are installed. Once the project resumes MnDOT is planning to resurface that stretch of highway. Work on the project is set to resume July 22.

MORTON (KMHL) – Cleanup is underway this morning after storms and torrential rain brought damage and flooding to southern Minnesota late Sunday night. Severe thunderstorms and heavy rain rumbled across southern Minnesota last night and into this morning. Parts of Redwood County saw nearly 6 inches of rain – the rain caused a mudslide on Highway 19 between Morton and Franklin, as a result the stretch of State Highway 19 between the two communities was closed for a while this morning.
