UNDATED (KMHL) – The Fourth of July holiday is a big weekend for celebratory gatherings and a big weekend for boating! But be careful if you’re planning both.

The Minnesota DNR, the Minnesota State Patrol and local county sheriff’s offices around the state are holding an increased enforcement on the lakes over the 4th of July weekend targeting impaired boaters.

According to a press release from the DNR, the increased enforcement specifically will run from July 5 – 7 on lakes around the state.

The joint collaboration is called Operation Dry Water.
