Council approves calling for bids for remodeled city hall

MARSHALL (KMHL) – The city of Marshall is moving another step forward on a project that could lead to a renovated city hall. The Marshall City Council voted to approve calling for bids on the estimated $6.1 million project. On a vote of 4-2 the council approved a vote to call for bids on the project. Council members Glenn Bayerkohler and Russ Labat were opposed. Ground is broken on new Head Start building in Marshall

MARSHALL (KMHL) – Ground has been broken on a new head start building in Marshall. Officials from United Community Action Partnership in Lyon County and city officials held the ceremonial ground breaking yesterday on a building that will serve as the new home for Head Start in Marshall. In May, UCAP announced they had received a $2.53 million grant for construction of the new facility. Appeals court restricts immigration holds in Nobles County

WORTHINGTON (KMHL) – A ruling from the state appeals court says a southwest Minnesota sheriff’s office can’t hold jail inmates in custody for immigration officials after the inmates are eligible for release in state cases. The ruling from the Minnesota Court of Appeals sides with the American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota in its lawsuit against the Nobles County Sheriff’s Office. ICE “detainers” had been requesting local officials hold those individuals in jail until federal officers could pick them up.
