3 people hurt in head on crash on Highway 59 north of Marshall
MARSHALL (KMHL) – Three people were injured in a crash yesterday afternoon around 4:30 along Highway 59 North of Marshall. The Minnesota State Patrol says a 2004 Toyota Camry was northbound on Highway 59 when it crossed the center line and collided with a 2016 Chevrolet Cruz. Authorities say the driver of the Camry, a 16-year-old female, was injured in the crash. As was Nicole Peterson, 37, of Marshall, a passenger in the Camry. Two people struck by car while crossing Highway 68 in Wabasso
WABASSO (KMHL) – Two Marshall women were struck by a vehicle while crossing Highway 68 in Wabasso yesterday. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Jill Wreath, 36 of Marshall, and Moriah Lokken, 32, of Marshall were crossing the highway at a marked intersection shortly before 7 a.m. yesterday when they were struck by a 2006 Chrysler 300 driven by Scott Christensen, 25, of Wabasso. Authorities say the women were treated for non-life threatening injuries at Carris Health – Redwood Falls. The patrol says Christensen and a passenger in his vehicle were not injured.
Puris Proteins in Dawson receives major grant from DEED
DAWSON (KMHL) – A company planning to turn a shuttered dairy processing facility near Dawson into a plant-based processing facility will receive a major grant from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development. The grant, which comes from the organization’s Job Creation Fund awards $1.8 million to Puris Proteins of Dawson. It was one of five companies to receive a grant from DEED. Lyon County Commissioners reinstate curbside recycling service
MARSHALL (KMHL) – Lyon County Commissioners have started cleaning up the mess surrounding the county’s future of curbside recycling. Commissioners approved two motions Tuesday that will allow for the service to continue. The first was to approve a one month extension of weekly curbside service, commissioners also approved the county to continue negotiating with Southwest Sanitation on an 18-month contract for bi-weekly service starting in November. HyVee suspends sale of Zantac and Topcare brand of ranitidine products
WEST DES MOINES, IOWA (KMHL) – HyVee has announced that it has suspended the sale of Zantac Brand and Topcare Brand Ranitidine products over concerns the products may contain a probable human carcinogen. The employee-owned corporation made the decision after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued an industry-wide product alert and official recall of the Topcare 75mg ranitidine products. Ranitidine is an H2 Blocker that is taken for heartburn relief. HyVee says any customers who purchased the over-the-counter products can return them to the store for a full refund.
