Olivia man sentenced to prison in Fairfax convenience store shooting

OLIVIA (LEARFIELD) – An Olivia man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for shooting a man he accused of persuading his wife to leave him. Michael Klatt, 61, of Olivia pleaded guilty to shooting a 36-year-old Hector man with a shotgun in the Smart Mart in Fairfax last January. Court records indicate that Klatt blamed the man for encouraging his wife to leave him. Klatt was charged with attempted murder and two counts of assault. A judge also ordered Klatt to pay restitution to the man.  

House capital investment committee coming to Marshall today

It’s part of a tour of bonding projects that lawmakers will tour in southwest and central Minnesota over the next few days. Rep. Dean Urdahl (R-Grove City) will be on the tour today. Authorities: Woman arrested after group fight in Cottonwood

COTTONWOOD (KMHL) – A Cottonwood woman was arrested and three people were injured in what authorities are describing as a group of people fighting, earlier this evening. According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s office, authorities responded to the call along Lindsay Drive around a quarter to six tonight in cottonwood. Authorities say one adult male received significant, non-life threatening injuries and two women received superficial injuries. Authorities say the man was treated and released for injuries from Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center.
