University of Iowa PHENOM Caitlin Clark could be the first woman to make $5 MILLION playing basketball.
Ice Cube has offered her that much to play against guys in his BIG3 basketball league. That would mean eight regular season games, and possibly two playoff appearances. And the deal would still allow her to play in the WBNA.
The Hawkeyes play Colorado Saturday in the NCAA Tournament, but after this season, Caitlin is entering the WNBA draft.
FYI, the highest-paid player in the WNBA last year was Jewell Loyd, with a salary of $600,000. Even if Caitlin goes first in the draft . . . which is totally expected . . . her rookie deal will only be $76,000.
Caitlin has yet to respond to the offer. Cube says, quote, “Caitlin is a generational athlete who can achieve tremendous success in the BIG3.
“With our offer, [she] can make history and break down even more barriers for women athletes.”
Not everyone thinks this is a great idea, though. Current WNBA star Lexie Brown of the L.A. Sparks is angry that Cube has never extended an offer to a female basketball player before.
And she adds, quote, “Instead of I don’t know, supporting the women’s league that already exists, let’s do this, in the middle of the NCAA tournament. Men are HILARIOUS.”
