WABASSO – St. Anne’s Catholic School is preparing to construct a new school building to better serve its students. The projected cost of the new facility is estimated at $12,223,594, which includes the construction of the new building and the demolition of the existing structure.
The current school building, constructed in 1923, has accessibility issues due to its multi-level design, lack of an elevator, and no restrooms on the main floor. Additionally, the building suffers from a failing boiler and roof. A feasibility study conducted last year determined that constructing a new building is the best solution.
The new school will be a single-story structure featuring a full gym and additional space for community use. It will be built on the current playground site, with the playground being relocated after the old building’s demolition.
The campaign to raise the necessary funds began eight months ago and has secured nearly $8.7 million, with $6 million already collected. Construction will begin once 75% of the funds are secured, with hopes to begin this fall if the remaining $3.5 million is raised soon.
St. Anne’s Catholic School serves preschool through 6th-grade students, with an estimated enrollment of 110 students next year.
