SLAYTON – A Murray County Central 5th grade teacher is facing six charges of sexual misconduct with a child under 14, and two counts of witness tampering, according to a criminal complaint. The charges stem from alleged incidents that occurred September 6th, 2022 through April 19th, 2023.  

According to court documents, on April 20th, the superintendent of Murray County Central called Slayton police about a report of alleged inappropriate touching of students by 5th grade teacher, Nathan Wieneke.  

After investigating and interviewing witnesses, charges were filed against Wieneke. According to court documents, the allegations include rubbing their backs and saying things that made them feel “weird.” The victims also said Wieneke would put his hand up the back of their shirts and touch their bare skin when they would go up to his desk for help. 

Wieneke has been placed on administrative leave.
