WOOD LAKE, Minn. — The Wood Lake Fair returns today for three days of community activities and entertainment, continuing traditions that date back to the fair’s founding in 1935.
The fair runs Aug. 24-26 and will feature the Midwest Rides Carnival, bingo, the Wood Lake hamburger stand, fair exhibits and free entertainment throughout the week.
Monday’s activities include a scavenger hunt beginning at 4 p.m., exhibit entries and a coloring contest at the Community Center, and the Little Scrapper’s Kid’s Tractor Pedal Pull. The Wood Lake Fire Department will hold water fights and raffle drawings at 6 p.m., followed by music from North Forty in the beer garden. A new Family Feud-style game show will be held at the Community Center from 8-9 p.m.
Tuesday includes exhibit hours, a pie and ice cream social at the Methodist Church, and the Wood Lake Bed Races on Third Avenue. Music by 3 Hour Download will follow in the beer garden.
Wednesday features the end of the scavenger hunt, additional exhibit hours, the kiddie parade at 5:45 p.m. and the Grand Parade at 6:30 p.m. The Kingery Family and Hicktown Mafia will provide evening entertainment.
The Midwest Rides Carnival will run from 6-10 p.m. each night, with advance ride tickets available at local businesses. A Lakeview Booster Club bingo stand, and Wood Lake Firemen dunk tank will also operate each evening.
The hamburger stand will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, while the beer garden opens at 6:30 p.m. Entertainment in the Community Center and beer garden is free.
