Matthew Karty, age 46, of Clarkfield passed away on Monday, September 7, 2020 at his home. Matthew Brian Karty was born on April 26, 1974, in Canby, Minnesota the son of Brian and Ruth Ann (Hoffman) Karty. He was baptized at St. Leo Catholic Church in St. Leo and later confirmed in his faith at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Canby. Matthew attended school at Dawson – Boyd High School and graduated in 1992. He furthered his education at the Canby campus of Minnesota West Vocational College for diesel mechanic.

Matthew’s heart was always on the farm, to support his love of the land, he worked at various places thru the years which started during college when he built rafters in Minneota. He also worked at AMPI in Dawson, the Appleton Prison, road construction for R and G Construction in Marshall, Friendship Homes in Montevideo and most recently worked as a security guard at Prairie’s Edge Casino.  Matthew loved the farm and found serenity there. As a young boy, you could always find him alongside his Dad learning everything from repairing tractors, baling hay to feeding hogs and cattle. Over time he especially enjoyed working with the machinery to make it look good and he repainted many pieces of equipment through the years. His relationship with his Mom was one of a kind, she was his number one supporter. She always had an extra plate of food ready for him after a long day at work and time spent in the field. Matthew was impressive in a quiet way unique to only him. His heart was large and filled with kindness. He was a hard worker and would help anyone if he could. Matthew valued his family. Teasing “his little blondies”, his nieces, was one of his favorite things to do!

Matthew is survived by his parents, Brian and Ruth Ann Karty of Clarkfield; sisters, Rebecca (Troy) Olson of Clarkfield, Sharon (Chad) Lozinski of Clara City; nieces and nephews, Christian Olson, Helena Olson, Lillian Olson, Hadleigh Olson, Emerson Olson, Brigit Lozinski, Calvin Lozinski, Layne Lozinski, Brynn Lozinski; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
