Mary attended school in Tracy, graduated in 1962, and started working as a telephone operator when she was 17. On August 24, 1963, Mary was united in marriage to Ronald Glenn Gilb at Willow Lake Lutheran Church in rural Tracy. The couple was blessed with four children: Cammy, Ricky (who died at three days old on November 2, 1965), Joey, and Ronda. Mary worked on the farm alongside her husband for many years. After they quit farming and moved to Redwood Falls, Mary worked at the Robert Multon Home until they purchased the Lakeside Drive Inn in Cottonwood, which she ran with her husband for two years. Mary worked at the Slayton and Fulda D.A.C. until she retired in 2005. Mary moved back to Tracy in 2009, and she was an active member of the Tracy Lutheran Church.
