MARSHALL (KMHL) – Members of the Marshall School Board voted to reject all bids on the Parkside Elementary project at their board meeting last night.

Board members voted to reject the bids after they came in much higher than what architects and the school district had budgeted for the project to add-on and make renovations to the elementary school.

The proposal would add classroom space and renovate space in the school to create an early childhood center at Parkside.

Architects are proposing several changes to the plan after receiving the higher than expected bids. ATS&R, the architect on the project, re-designed the addition to take out some of the more complicated aspects of the plan. Architects also simplified plans on plumbing and reduced the number of add-ons.

ATS&R’s David Maroney said they plan to put the project back out for bid in January.
