Lila R. Hoffman, age 95 of Redwood Falls, passed away Monday, March 1, 2021 at River Valley Health and Rehab Center. Graveside Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2021 at the Redwood Falls Cemetery. Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, guests will be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing guidelines. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Lila was born March 15, 1925 to Albert and Anna (Wenzel) Schweim on the family farm near Springfield, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Springfield. Lila attended Country School District 48 in North Star Township near Springfield and later graduated from Springfield High School on June 3, 1943. After graduation, Lila worked at Springfield bank for seven years. On September 9, 1950, she married Glen Hoffman at Zion Lutheran Church in Springfield. After the wedding, the couple lived and farmed in Willow Lake Township until 1958. They then moved to a farm in Redwood Falls Township and later moved into Redwood Falls in December of 2015. Lila was always right beside Glen helping on the farm. She was a longtime member of Bethany Lutheran Church, where she served on the ladies group. She loved gardening and took pride in her large flower garden. You could often find Lila having coffee and visiting with the neighbor ladies. Lila enjoyed canning and was famous for her homemade pickles and bread.
Lila is survived by her children: Margaret (Doug) Eiler, Rodney (Joy) Hoffman both of Redwood Falls, Janette (Allan) Koch of Garvin, and Lynn (Beth) Hoffman of San Diego; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Glen, grandson, Kevin Hoffman, and siblings: Wilbert Schweim, Alta Fixsen, Erma Schweim, Norma Schweim, and Erich Schweim.
