Gladyce Ilene Nosbusch, age 102, arrived into this world on the falling edge of the Great Depression, on July 10, 1921 on a farm between Marietta and Madison, Minnesota.  Gladyce met the love of her life Robert J. Nosbusch in a country school near Saint Leo, Minnesota.  They later married in Chattanooga, Tennessee and then moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado together until Robert enlisted in the Army to serve in World War II for four years.  Upon completion of his service in the War, Gladyce and Robert moved to the Pipestone, Minnesota area.  They started a family with the birth of their son Robert A. Nosbusch in 1952.  Gladyce and her husband were always, “on the same page”, doing everything together in life.  Her husband’s love involved farming and Gladyce’s main love was teaching.  Before Gladyce started her career in the Pipestone School System, she taught at Russell, Trosky, and Edgerton, Minnesota.  She continued her own education, during these years, receiving her Bachelor’s Degree from Mankato State University in 1955 and her Master’s Degree from South Dakota State University in 1962.  Always continuing her own education, Gladyce held a teaching license that is rarely seen or held by any teacher, “A Lifetime Teaching License”, These Lifetime Teaching Licenses are no longer given out.  Gladyce stepped in as the teaching principal at Dolsen Hill Elementary School in Pipestone, Minnesota from 1962 to 1966, before a full-time principal was hired, then Gladyce was happy to return to the classroom she loved.  Gladyce’s profound love of teaching, working with children, and her LOVE for those various activities and instructional processes to enhance a learning experience for all children never diminished throughout her forty-eight years of teaching.  Amongst her love of teaching, Gladyce found time for various hobbies such as, a huge stamp collection, coin collection, and small glass figurines.  She was also a talented artist working on many beautiful ceramic projects and drawings as well.  She truly loved all sorts of beautiful items.
