Mass of Christian Burial for Gary Timmerman, 65, of Marshall will take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will take place on Monday from 4-7pm with a CCW Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at Rehkamp Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall. Visitation will continue from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the St. Clotilde Catholic Cemetery.
Gary died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD, from complications of a stroke following a long courageous battle with cancer.
Gary Andrew Timmerman was born on Jan. 19, 1955, in Marshall to Andrew and Mary (Lootens) Timmerman. He was baptized and received the sacraments at St. Clotilde Catholic Church. He grew up on a farm near Green Valley and graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1973. On August 30, 1975, he was united in marriage to Pat Verly at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. The couple enjoyed dancing, listening to music, camping, and rolle bolle. The couple lived on the family farm where they raised their 4 sons: Eric, Craig, Jason and Travis. Gary also enjoyed playing cards, working in his shop, Canadian fishing trips, having morning coffee with multiple groups of friends, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife Pat of Marshall, MN, son Eric (and Lisa) Timmerman of Alexandria, MN, granddaughter Mackenzie, son Fr. Craig Timmerman of Minneota, MN, and son Travis (and Adina) Timmerman of Helena, MT, grandsons Jude, Dominic and Xavier, daughter-in-law Teresa (and Marcel) Vallotton of Stockton, Manitoba, Canada, mother Mary Timmerman of Springfield, MN, brother Dennis (and Shirley) Timmerman of Boyd, MN, sister Grace (and Dan) Coudron of Marshall, MN, brother Ron (and Amy) Timmerman of Marshall, MN, sister Lois (and Rich) Coudron of Marshall, MN, sister Kathy (and Tim) Ricke of Minnetonka, MN, nieces, nephews, in-laws, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Andrew Timmerman, son Jason Timmerman who died in 2005 while serving in Iraq, father and mother in-law Albert and Anna Verly, and brothers in-law Joe, Chuck, Leroy, Dennis Verly, and Deacon Dennis Popowski, nephews Tim Coudron and Jessie Timmerman, niece Shawn DeBaere, and other extended family.
