The funeral service for Freddie Goltz, 83, of Wood Lake, will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at 11:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake. Visitation will take place from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment with military honors will follow the service at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.
Fredrick “Freddie” Ronald Goltz was born on October 21, 1938, on the family farm in rural Wood Lake to Fredrick and Clara (Krosch) Goltz. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake. He graduated from Wood Lake High School 1956. He was drafted into the Army in 1961 where he served until being released due to his father being ill. He then took over the family farm. Freddie was united in marriage to Karen Imes in 1963. From that marriage they had three children: Ronald, Thomas, and Kara. They were married 17 years before Karen passed away from cancer. In 1983 he married Rita Zollner. From that marriage they had Cristin. They later divorced. Freddie’s many interests were a love for farming, visiting with family and friends, and his love for family history.
Freddie died Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Granite Falls Hospital. He is survived by his daughter Kara Kingsley and husband Thad; daughter Cristin Rudenick and husband Clifford; grandchildren Bryce and Morgan Kingsley and Holden and Hogan Rudenick; as well as close family friend Ute Brosman. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Karen, sons Ron and Tommy, sister Viola Geistfeld, and many relatives and friends.
