MARSHALL, MN — Minnesota State has named three finalists in the search for the next president of Southwest Minnesota State University.

The finalists are Amy Clark, David Jones and Shadow Robinson. They were recommended by a search advisory committee made up of students, faculty, staff and community members.

All three candidates will take part in campus visits during the week of Jan. 26, allowing students, employees and community members to meet the finalists and provide feedback.

Amy Clark

Clark most recently served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Nebraska Methodist College, a role she held from 2018 until October 2025. Her visit to SMSU is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 27.

David Jones

Jones has served as interim president of SMSU since July 1, 2025. Before joining SMSU, he held several leadership roles at Minnesota State University, Mankato. His campus visit is set for Wednesday, Jan. 28.

Shadow Robinson

Robinson is currently the provost and vice chancellor of academic affairs at the University of Arkansas–Fort Smith, a position he has held since 2022. He is scheduled to visit campus on Thursday, Jan. 29.

The Minnesota State Board of Trustees is expected to consider Chancellor Scott Olson’s recommendation at its Feb. 18 meeting. The new president is expected to begin the role on July 1, 2026.
