The University of Minnesota extension master gardener program has some gardening classes open to the public all at the Lyon County Library. May 18th @ 10:00 a.m. - The Trees that Help Us Breath: for kids in K-5 with Master Gardener Sue Morton   These events are presented through the Minnesota Extension Service Master Gardener Volunteer Program. Founded in 1977, the program now includes over 2,300 active master gardeners in almost every county of the state of Minnesota. The Tracy Public Library has the Three Days in Dakota, The James Brother's Escape from Northfield presentation by Russ Swanson Monday, May 2oth. Presentation is at the Public Library, 366 Morgan St. in Tracy 6:30 - 7:30 pm. A presentation of what was once the largest manhunt in U.S. history. After the Northfield bank robbery. The James/Younger Gang fled across southern Minnesota and into Dakota Territory before making their way back to Missouri. The Marshall American Legion Auxiliary will be having a Pillowing Cleaning on May 21 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Wooden Nickel in Marshall. The proceeds benefit our Veteran’s programs. Used pillows will be cleaned, sanitized, and deodorized. The process takes only a few minutes. New pillows and comforters are also available. Grieving the death of a spouse? Do you know someone who is? In the "Loss of a Spouse" seminar, you will learn what to expect in the weeks and months after your spouse's death and how to survive the loneliness. A Memorial Day program will be held at the Echo Community Center on Monday, May 27th at 10:30 a.m. Fagen flyover, color and honor guard at the cemetery following the program. Everyone is invited back to the community center for a potluck lunch.

The Lakeview Family, Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) invite you to attend their Dementia Awareness Walk Friday, May 31st from 5 - 8 pm at the Lakeview Football Field. Held in connection with the Marshall Area Dementia Awareness Network, the walk will be a fun and informational event for all ages. There will be activities for kids. T-shirts & concessions for purchase will be on site. Informational booths provided by the Marshall Area Dementia Awareness Network, Ace of Marshall, Avera Hospice, & Prairie Home Hospice. Saturday, June 1st, 4:30 - 9:30 pm kick off June with the Burgers, Bands, & Brews event at the Central Park Band Shell in Tracy. Live music, pork burgers, & cold beverages. They'll have it all, cost is $15 and includes live music, meal & drink. Live music includes: Eric James 5 - 6 pm, Kayla Daniels 6 - 7 pm, & The 22nd Row celebrating the music of Elton John 7 - 9 pm.

This summer Kids Eat Free with the Marshall Public School's Summer Food Service Program. Any child age 18 and under qualifies for meals at no cost. Meals include breakfast, lunch, & must be eaten onsite. June 5th - 28th the program is available at Marshall Middle School Mon. - Fri. Breakfast served 8 am - 8:30 am, Lunch served 12 - 12:30 pm.
