Dale Anhalt, age 86, of Canby, MN, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the Sanford Canby Medical Center in Canby. Memorial service will be 2 pm on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Canby with Rev. Levi Bollerud officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church. Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby is entrusted with the arrangements.
Dale Anhalt was born April 28, 1939, to Harold and Leona (Footh) Anhalt in Clarkfield, Minnesota. He was raised in the Canby, Minnesota area and was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Omro Township. He attended grade school at St. John’s Lutheran School and then graduated from Canby High School in Canby. During his senior year, he joined the Army National Guard. On September 15, 1962, Dale was united in marriage to LaVonne Lund in the Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Following their marriage, they lived in Canby where Dale worked for Farmer’s Co-op as a plumber. He became a founding partner in C.A.S Plumbing where he continued his career in plumbing and heating. He later started his own business, Anhalt Plumbing and Heating where he continued to work until his retirement in 2005 when he sold the business to his son Chad. Dale was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Canby. He also belonged to the Canby Sportsman Club and enjoyed shooting trap for many years. Dale enjoyed hunting and traveling but spent most of his retirement gardening, spending time enjoying nature and going for walks with his dog. Dale and Chad enjoyed pulling antique tractors, Dale with is 88 Oliver and Chad with his L Case. Dale also enjoyed having coffee and shaking dice with the guys at AGPlus at “The Table of Knowledge.”
Dale is lovingly remembered by his wife LaVonne Anhalt, Canby, MN; son Chad (Jami) Anhalt, Canby, MN; two grandsons: Parker and Payton Anhalt; sister, Marilyn Footh; sister-in-law, Darlene Anhalt; two brothers-in-law: Roy (Thora) Lund and Alden (Barb) Lund; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Karen Mamer, brother Myron Anhalt and niece Kris (Mamer) Rukheim.
