MONTEVIDEO (KMHL) – The Chippewa County Sheriff’s office has identified the two people who were found dead over the weekend in a secluded area near the Sparta cemetery.
Authorities say Charity Hoffelt, 41, of Sioux Falls, died at the scene of suicide from a gunshot wound. Sheriff’s officials say the death of 42-year-old Andy Wilcox, also of Sioux Falls, remains under investigation. Authorities say the two were dating.
Officers began searching for Wilcox after receiving a call from his family saying they believed he was suicidal. They found both near the cemetery on Sunday afternoon. Authorities say Hoffelt was declared dead at the scene, Wilcox was taken to North Memorial Medical Center – where he was pronounced dead later.
Sheriff’s officials says there is no risk to the public.
