ST. PAUL, MN — The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) is investigating a use-of-force incident that happened just after 1 p.m. in the city of Red Wing. A single vehicle was involved in a crash at Bay Point Park. A Goodhue County sheriff’s deputy made contact with the man believed to be driving the vehicle. At one point, a struggle ensued and the deputy shot the man. He is being treated at a local hospital and is expected to recover. The deputy also suffered minor injuries but is expected to recover. There is no body camera or squad camera footage of this incident. This investigation is still in the very early stages. More information will be released pending further investigation.
