Millions of Americans Saw the Northern Lights . . . Through Their Phone

2024-05-13T13:54:00-05:00May 13th, 2024|Categories: KARZ, KKCK, KMHL|

Millions of Americans got to see the Northern Lights this weekend, at least kind of.  Some saw them the same way your 13-year-old watched Taylor Swift in concert . . . mostly through their phone. The aurora extended way farther south than usual thanks to a huge solar storm.  That's where charged particles from the sun light up as they hit Earth's magnetic field.  It was the strongest since 2003. Even people in Florida were posting photos this weekend.  But some of those shots might be more impressive than what they actually saw in person. It turns out phone cameras are so good now, they [...]

Oprah Regrets Contributing to Diet Culture

2024-05-13T13:53:09-05:00May 13th, 2024|Categories: KKCK|

Believe it or not, Oprah is NOT infallible.  And she knows it.  During a Weight Watchers livestream last week, she said she regretted participating in toxic diet culture over the years. Quote, "I've been a major contributor to it.  I cannot tell you how many weight loss shows and makeovers I have done, and they have been a staple since I've been working in television." One of her biggest regrets was when she brought 67 pounds of animal fat onstage during "The Oprah Winfrey Show" to demonstrate how much weight she'd lost. Quote, "It sent a message that starving yourself with a liquid diet set [...]

Zach Bryan Defended Randy Travis’s New A.I. Song

2024-05-13T13:51:02-05:00May 13th, 2024|Categories: KARL|

Randy Travis's new song "Where That Came From" debuted at #45 on the Country Airplay chart, making it his first charting single in almost 20 years.  His last one was "Angels" in 2005. Not everyone's a fan though, and some think it could open the floodgates for A.I. in music.  Randy hasn't been able to sing or talk much since his stroke in 2013, so they used A.I. for the vocals. It sounds like Zach Bryan thinks it's kinda cool though.  He stuck up for it the other day while also taking a shot at critics.  Specifically, artists who don't write their own stuff. Quote, "Some people are [...]

Just Great, Porch Pirates Are Stealing Packages Out of Homeowners’ Hands Now…

2024-05-13T13:50:26-05:00May 13th, 2024|Categories: KARL, KARZ, KKCK, KMHL|

Remember when we thought it was brazen to steal a package from someone's porch . . . in broad daylight . . . when the person has a doorbell camera?  Yeah, that's nothing compared to this. A man in Pennsylvania opened his door last Tuesday to pick up a package . . . when a man came running through his yard with his hands up.  He ran up to the porch . . . snatched the box out of the guy's hands . . . and ran off with it. It was day-time . . . there was a security camera [...]

Favorite (And Least Favorite) Mother’s Day Activities Revealed

2024-05-10T10:50:55-05:00May 10th, 2024|Categories: KARL, KARZ, KKCK, KMHL|

Mother's Day is on Sunday, and if you STILL don't have anything planned, maybe this will help guide you . . .   A new survey of moms asked about their favorite ways to spend their free time.   The activity that ranked FIRST is watching movies or TV shows.  That was just ahead of catching up on sleep . . . and doing personal care, like taking a long bath.   Out of the seven activities listed in the survey, the thing that moms like the LEAST is going out to eat.  So maybe that's good news if you haven't [...]

A man parked his boat next to his home, but was told by city officials that he'd need to build a fence to hide the boat from the road . . . for whatever reason.  So, he installed a fence, and then painted his boat on it.  (Video)

What Has a 0% Chance of Happening in the Next 50 Years?

2024-05-09T11:39:30-05:00May 9th, 2024|Categories: KARL, KARZ, KKCK, KMHL|

With all the chaos happening in the world, the chance of "world peace" happening within the next century seems firmly entrenched at . . . 0%.   Someone just asked the internet, "What has a 0% chance of happening in the next 50 years?"  And here are some of the best responses:   1.  George R. R. Martin releasing "The Winds of Winter". 2.  Someone said, "Leonardo DiCaprio dating someone born before 2000." 3.  Someone joked, "1982."  And someone else responded, "But sadly 1984 could still happen."  (That's a reference to George Orwell's dystopian novel.) 4.  This person took it more seriously:  "Humans living underwater . [...]
