TRACY, MN — A Marshall man armed with a handgun was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon after making public threats, prompting a lockdown of local schools and a coordinated search involving multiple law enforcement agencies in Tracy.

The Tracy Police Department received the initial report around 4:06 p.m. on April 15. When the suspect, later identified as 25-year-old Alec Joseph Jahn of Marshall, was not immediately found, officers from multiple agencies were dispatched for assistance and joined the search effort.

Tracy Elementary School, Tracy Kids World, and Tracy High School were placed on lockdown as a precaution.

Jahn was located hiding just north of the Tracy High School property and was arrested without incident. A handgun was recovered at the scene.

Assistance was provided by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Redwood County Sheriff’s Office, Murray County Sheriff’s Office, Walnut Grove Police Department, Lamberton Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

On Wednesday, Jahn appeared in Lyon County District Court on charges of making terroristic threats and carrying a pistol without a permit. Bail was set at $50,000 without conditions, or $20,000 with conditions. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 29th.
