Arlon G. Buchholz, age 83, of Hendricks, MN, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022, at the Hendricks Hospital in Hendricks, MN. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 18, 2022, at Christ Lutheran Church in Hendricks, MN. Burial will be in the Hendricks City Cemetery, Hendricks, MN. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Prayer Service on Thursday, November 17th at the Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Hendricks, MN and will resume Friday one hour prior to the service at the church. Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Hendricks is entrusted with the arrangements.
Arlon Gene Buchholz was born on December 11th, 1938, to Julius and Elsie (Jassman) Buchholz in Geddes, SD. In 1941, his family moved and settled on the family farm by Hendricks, MN. He attended country schools 29 and 76 in Shaokatan township and then last attended the Hendricks Public School through the eighth grade. He received his GED in 1970. After receiving his GED, he then attended the Vets Ag program in Canby, MN. In 1959, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Fort Louis, WA where he was a scorpion tank driver. He was honorably discharged in 1961 as a Spec 4. After being discharged, he returned home where he farmed with his dad and worked at Fritz Rust’s shop. He was united in marriage to Martha Timmerman on June 15th, 1968, in Walnut Grove, MN. They moved onto the family farm where they raised their three children: David, Laura, and Lisa. He farmed for 37 years with his son David and was happy to get his grandson Deven started in the family business before retirement. Alongside farming, Arlon and David have a trucking company for 25 years. He was an active board member who served on serval boards including: the Shaokatan township board for 39 years, the Hendricks Lumber Yard board for 32 years, the Lake Benton Farmers Elevator board for 12 years, the Lincoln County Farm Bureau board for 10 years, the Hendricks Creamery board for 8 years, and the FHA board for three years. His greatest moments were spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren whether attending their sporting events, concerts, or having them come over. He also enjoyed being around John Deere tractors and thrashing machines.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Marty; three children: Dave (Suzy) Buchholz of Henricks, MN, Laura (Jesse) Hall of Arlington, SD, & Lisa (Jesse) Enstad of Hendricks, MN; seven grandchildren: Danielle Nelson (Ryan Zych), Deven Buchholz, Zach Buchholz, Hayden Hall, Kaden Hall, Jett Enstad, & Sutton Enstad; three great grandchildren: Capri, Lincoln, & Eden Zych; three siblings: Donna (Buzz) Durham, Eleanor Johannsen, & Bob (Kathy) Buchholz. He was preceded in death by his parents: Julius and Elsie and brothers: Harvey, Donald, Richard, and James Buchholz.
