LUCAN, MN – The community is coming together to support Laurie and Terry Ourada at the Bridging the Gap Benefit on Sunday, July 21, from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Lucan Community Center.

Laurie Ourada has been battling Scleroderma, a rare autoimmune disease, for several years. This condition has led to numerous complications, requiring multiple procedures and surgeries. Since January, Laurie has undergone four major surgeries, with another one planned for later this year. She will also need ongoing treatments, therapies, and procedures to manage the complications from her surgeries.

The financial strain has been substantial, with unpaid medical and travel expenses for treatments in Houston and Minneapolis adding up. Laurie’s employment was recently terminated due to her inability to work, further exacerbating the family’s financial difficulties.

Adding to the family’s challenges, Terry Ourada is also fighting prostate cancer, putting additional emotional and financial pressure on them.

The Bridging the Gap Benefit will feature a variety of activities, including a picnic meal, Lingen Dairy ice cream, a silent auction, “Squeeze the Stuffins,” and free will massages. The community’s support through this event will be crucial in helping the Ouradas manage their ongoing medical and travel expenses.
