MnDOT seeks more input from public on East College Drive/Highway 19 construction project
MARSHALL (KMHL) – MnDOT District 8 and the City of Marshall are looking for more input from the public on a College Drive and Highway 19 reconstruction project that is set for 2025. MnDOT is inviting community members to participate in a short survey following an overall visioning effort they held in Marshall earlier this month. Officials say the survey takes less than five minutes to complete and is important because they want input on the key issues that should be addressed when reconstructing the road. Curtis Robert Hansen, age 68, of Wood Lake, formerly of Lucan, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly October 26, 2019. Fire in Madison leaves one man dead, woman sent to hospital
MADISON (KMHL) – A fire at a home on 5th Avenue in Madison left one man dead and sent a woman to the hospital. According to a press release from the Lac Qui Parle Sheriff’s Office, the fire was reported around 10:45 Wednesday morning. Authorities say the man was found dead at the scene of the fire, the woman was transported by ambulance to the Madison hospital. Sheriff’s officials say the fire remains under investigation with the state fire marshal’s office. Authorities have not identified the victims pending notification of the family.
Phase 2 of MERIT Center expansion complete as expanded driving track ready for use
MARSHALL (KMHL) – There was a good turnout for an open house yesterday to see the expanded track at the MERIT Center in Marshall. Officials from the city of Marshall were showing off the completion of phase two of training facility. The facility received just over $3 million from the bonding bill. Sen. Minnesota lawmaker proposes legislation to let college athletes allow for endorsements and sign with agents
ST. PAUL (KMHL) – A Minnesota lawmaker is drafting legislation to allow college athletes in Minnesota to be able to receive endorsements and retain agents without putting their scholarships at risk. Sen. Roger Chamberlain’s (R-Lino Lakes) bill would allow college athletes to accept compensation for the use of their name, image and likeness and to have agents represent them without affecting their scholarships. Chamberlain calls it a matter of fairness to athletes as universities and the NCAA profit off their likenesses.
